About
Kim Tschang-Yeul(1929-2021) was a famous Korean modern art master living in France. He was also one of the most influential Korean artists in the West. He was known as the "drop painter" because the drop painting was a theme throughout his career. Deeply influenced by Confucianism and Eastern and Western cultures, he has the dual identity of a painter and a philosopher. His works not only integrate culture and philosophy into perfect pictures, but also transform profound thoughts into noble simplicity. The water drops depicted by the painter in western style materialize the Oriental culture and wisdom. Through the extremely delicate water drops, the painter seeks absolute transparency, absolute disappearance and multi-end changes. His works always revolve around the Oriental civilization and the Western culture, reality and concept, mass culture and the supreme spirit of the opposition to carry on the topic, with perfect means, the East and the West, tradition and modern organic fusion together, exudes the distinctive personality and elegant style, and is highly recognized by the international community.
